A Plague Tale sequel Requiem features a literal flood of rats

The sequel to the 2019 hit, A Plague’s Tale, was announced during Microsoft’s E3 presentation and will launch on Xbox Game Pass.

Before E3 began, one prominent leaker suggested that a sequel to A Plague Tale would be among the announcements, alongside a bevy of other predicted games. And they were absolutely right, with A Plague Tale: Requiem being revealed during Microsoft’s presentation.

It’s only a short trailer and appears to be entirely cinematic, but one thing that’s for certain is that it will retain the original’s gothic horror setting and tone. It’s big set-piece probably being the literal flood of rats crashing through the streets.

As for the plot, main characters Alcina and her brother Hugo are returning, with a synopsis only saying they’ll embark on ‘a perilous new quest, doing whatever it takes to survive a brutal, uncaring world.’

With Microsoft being the one to announce it, it’s naturally slated to release for the Xbox Series X/S and PC. In fact, it’ll be available to play via Game Pass as well on the day of release.

There’s no sign of an Xbox One release, but Microsoft would like to remind you that the first game is available on Game Pass right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The trailer doesn’t mention a release for PlayStation 5 or any other platform, but there’s so far nothing to suggest that it’s an Xbox exclusive either. The first game released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch so it might be safe to assume that Requiem will be a multi-platform game as well.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is scheduled to release in 2022.
