‘Congratulations Mexico’- Jon Jones Has a Message for Brandon Moreno After Stunning Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 263

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones took to social media and congratulated Brandon Moreno for his win at UFC 263. ‘The Assassin Baby’ submitted Deiveson Figueiredo in the third round via RNC and snagged the undisputed UFC title. Chiefly, Moreno became the first-ever Mexican-born UFC champion and Jon Jones recognized his milestone achievement.

Jones has seen it all in MMA and he’s definitely reached the highest of heights in the sport of MMA. However, Moreno will have the distinction of being a marquee representative for his nation.

Deiveson Figueiredo came in with a solid game plan and still wasn’t able to make his mark in a significant capacity. Brandon Moreno dropped ‘Deus de Guerra’ in the first round and proved that he had heavy hands. Chiefly, some fans believed that Deiveson Figueiredo underestimated the skill set that Brandon Moreno brought to the table.

UFC 263: Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno

The energy in the Gila River Arena was electric as both Figueiredo and Moreno made their way to the UFC octagon. Given the nature of their first fight, fans expected nothing but an all-out war from the aforementioned flyweights. Chiefly, both men delivered on their promise of coming in with heat as the co-main event didn’t need the judges.

As mentioned earlier, Deiveson Figueiredo was stunned in round one but began to regain composure. However, Moreno’s dominance on the ground turned out to be the deciding factor in the contest. The tactical change by Moreno began to take effect in round 2 and he continued his momentum until the finish.

Deiveson Figueiredo attempted to engage in hand fighting. However, Moreno’s activity on the ground was undeniable. He began to constrict the champion’s movement with a tight body triangle and worked his hands towards an RNC submission.
