Everyone expected Halo Infinite at Microsoft’s E3 presentation and the newest information concerns the game’s multiplayer.

Even if Microsoft hadn’t already teased it, Halo Infinite was guaranteed to make an appearance during its E3 presentation, especially with it being one of the company’s biggest releases and coming out this year.

Firstly, Microsoft showed off some more footage from the campaign, but it was primarily story related, introducing us to a new AI companion for Master Chief, who looks to be a stand in for Cortana.

What got a bit more focus was the game’s multiplayer. Exact details are still scarce on that front and what was shown was a heavily edited sizzle reel, but it looks like the classic Halo multiplayer fans love. You even get to use Chief’s new grappling hook.

It has been described as free-to-play, but what sort of free-to-play elements it will have are unknown.

Possibly the biggest takeaway is the improved visuals. From the brief glimpses of footage, it certainly looks like a step up from the original gameplay reveal trailer. Although there are no Brutes to make an exact comparison.

And while we don’t have an exact date, Microsoft doubles down on its promised 2021 release, with both the multiplayer and campaign slated to be out during the holiday season (so probably before Christmas).

Halo Infinite releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
