‘I Got a Cut in Training’- Nate Diaz Reveals What Went Wrong for Him in Leon Edwards Loss at UFC 263

UFC 263: Adesanya vs Vettori saw a grueling 5 round battle pan out between the welterweight elites Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz. In the end, Edwards survived a late scare to secure a victory via unanimous decision.

Diaz suffered a cut again on his forehead as Edwards pummeled his elbows right over his forehead portion. This is not the first time the fighter has suffered the cut in his career. They were scheduled to face each other at UFC 262 before a minor injury to Diaz shifted their bout.

USA Today’s reporter Nolan King talked about Diaz having a cut prior to his fight during the aforementioned battle.

Diaz confirmed King’s words after the fight. “I got a cut in training not a month ago...I think it slowed my whole momentum down,” Diaz said.“I want to say thanks to everybody for the love and support. I appreciate it! It’s Nick Diaz army! We lions out here!”

The live crowd witnessed a returning Diaz after a 2-year hiatus. The match started with a no glove touch from the fighters. The crowd was firmly behind Diaz through the match.

‘Rocky Edwards dominated the match from the start. He continued his aggressiveness till the 4th round, after which he went into a bit of defensive mode. Diaz caught him with a hook which almost doomed Edwards’s day but he survived, in the end, to pick up the victory.
