It’s time for the finals of the French Open 2021 where World No.1 Novak Djokovic will be up against World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas. The two will be crossing their paths for the second time at Roland Garros. While Djoker will be aiming for his 19th Grand Slam title, Tsistipas’ eyes will be on the first major of his professional career.
If Novak Djokovic wins today, he’ll be the first male player to win each major at least twice in the Open Era. However, he is not the only one who will be after records at Roland Garros 2021. If Stefanos Tsitsipas wins the title, he’ll also register his name in the history books.

World No.5 Tsitsipas is the first Greek player who will be playing in the finals of a Grand Slam when he’ll step on the court today. If he wins the French Open 2021 title, he’ll become the first in his country to win a tennis major.
Before this, Tsistipas became the only Greek player who managed to win a junior’s Grand Slam in the Open Era. He did that in 2016 when he won the Wimbledon Championships title in the doubles category. In addition, he is the only Greek player who has more than three titles on the ATP Tour.

If Tsitsipas wins the finale against Djokovic, he’ll become the youngest player to lift the title since Rafael Nadal when he managed to win in 2008.
When Rafa won the title in 2008, he was 21 years old. Since then, nobody younger than him has been able to win the trophy. The Greek player is 22-years-old right now.

If Tsitsipas manages to clinch a victory today, he’ll become the second ATP player born in the 1990s to win a major. Before him, only Dominic Thiem has done the same when he lifted the US Open title last year.
Djokovic can become the first man in 52 years to win all four Grand Slams twice.
Tsitsipas can become just the second man born in 1990s to win a Major.

This will surely put him way ahead of Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev in the next-gen race as unlike them, he’ll have a major to his name.
Tsitsipas can achieve a peculiar Grand Slam final feat against Novak Djokovic
So far, any player who is younger than Novak Djokovic has not been able to beat him in a Grand Slam final. Thus, if Tsitsipas stuns the Serbian legend, he’ll become the first player to do so.
Djokovic has faced Juan Martin del Potro, Dominic Thiem, and Daniil Medvedev in the finals of a Grand Slam. These all are younger than him and he was able to crush them quite easily.
It’ll be intriguing to see how Tsitsipas plays against the World No.1 player. Even though he is the underdog, he surely has the potential to defeat Djokovic. Will tennis fans witness something extraordinary from the Greek player today?
