Carlos Sainz Explains How ‘Chit-Chat’ Surrounding His Name Made Him an Introvert

Being the son of a person who had an excellent motorsport career can be difficult. The likes of Mick Schumacher, Nico Rosberg, and Carlos Sainz falls into the same category. Sainz states that the pressure from his dad to be the best made him what he is today.

Carlos Sainz Sr was an excellent rally car driver and made a name for himself. Sainz Jr states that the added pressure because of his dad’s name made him the driver is currently.

Carlos Sainz appreciates his dad’s help to make him a great driver

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sainz said, “He was very hard on myself, I’m not going to lie. He was very demanding, but the pressure itself came also on its own with the surname I have.”

“When I was a little kid, 11 years old, I was going to all these go-kart races and there was always this chit-chat about ‘the son of Carlos Sainz is here, let’s see how he does, get the stopwatch out, see if my kid is quicker than Carlos Sainz Jnr’.

“So I had this added pressure that made me a bit more shy, a bit more ‘I don’t know why everyone’s looking at me’ and maybe that also helped to prepare me for later in my career,” Sainz concluded.

How is Sainz doing this year at Ferrari?

The 26-year-old joined the Italian team for the 2021 season, and so far Sainz has been helping the team score crucial points for the championship. The most memorable moment for the Spanish driver. has to be his podium finish at Monaco, where he placed second on the grid.

Sainz finds himself in seventh place with 42 points to his name so far this season. He hopes to score in the upcoming races and plans to get ahead in the driver’s standings.

Meanwhile, the Marenell0-based team currently sits in third place with 94 points. The team hopes that they can take the fight to rivals, Mercedes and Red Bull as the current campaign goes on
