Chiefs Safety Tyrann Mathieu Claps Back at Le’Veon Bell Following Dig at Andy Reid

Le’Veon Bell has beef with Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid. The former Pittsburgh Steelers running back who signed for the Chiefs midway through last season is currently a free agent.

And while the Chiefs could’ve signed Bell on another short-term deal, the running back has pretty much ensured that will not be the case.

Recently taking to social media, Bell announced that he would rather “retire” than play for Andy Reid ever again. While the running back is yet to clear the air as to why such is the case, one Kansas City Chiefs superstar wasn’t a fan of Bell’s comments.

Tyrann Mathieu blames Le’Veon Bell for his own failure

Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu didn’t take Le’Veon Bell’s criticism of Andy Reid well. Replying to a tweet about Bell’s comments by former NFL player Charles James, Mathieu hinted that Bell’s criticism of Reid wasn’t justified.

“These fellas will blame everybody for their lack of success. That’s how I know I’m built different,” Mathieu tweeted.

Bell was once one of the most feared running backs in the NFL. During his stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the running back notched up three Pro Bowl call ups.

But after being released by the Steelers in 2019 following a contract dispute, Bell hasn’t been the same. Signing with the New York Jets as a free agent, Bell sought to resurrect his NFL career.

But his time in New York didn’t quite work out as planned. The running back was cut from the Jets roster midway through 2020. The Chiefs then swooped in to sign Bell on a short-term deal.

Primarily brought in as backup for rookie Clyde Edward-Helaire, Bell failed to step up when the opportunity of leading the Chiefs’ running game presented itself.

The running back later took to Twitter to clear out that his beef was only with Reid and did not extend to the franchise or its fans. But it seems he clearly failed to impress some of his teammates at Kansas as well.
