Ewan McGregor has been seen for the first time on the set of new Disney Plus show Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Anticipation is higher than ever as production steps up on the upcoming spin-off series, with fans speculating about what the series could entail.

While the programme is shrouded in mystery, the pictures offer the first look at Ewan at work. The images show him in a black trench coat over his costume, clutching a handful of personal items including a book.

The prequel spin-off has been pitched as a ‘rematch’ between Obi-Wan (Ewan) and his former Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen).

The actor starred in the prequel trilogy as Jedi master Obi-Wan, first appearing in Episode I – The Phantom Menace back in 1999.

Ewan is returning to reprise his role from the prequel films, and he won’t be alone. Bonnie Piesse, who played Beru in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and Joel Edgerton, who played her husband Owen, have also been confirmed to be returning for the new adventures.

Star Wars’ Liam Neeson has also addressed the rumours linking him with a cameo in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series heading to Disney Plus – but it’s not the news fans will have been hoping for.

While he won’t be involved, Marvel’s The Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani and Indira Varma (Game Of Thrones, This Way Up) are on board.

Homeland star Rupert Friend, and Straight Outta Compton’s O’Shea Jackson are also both joining the cast.

Ewan delivered a massive teaser about the upcoming series recently, hinting that he shared a scene with ‘someone very special in my life’ while on set on May the 4th.

It’s not been the easiest time for the McGregor family of late. It comes after Ewan’s daughter Clara walked the red carpet with a bloodied injury on her face over the weekend, mere moments after landing in A&E after she was bitten by a dog.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi has yet to be given a release date on Disney Plus.
