“I Like My Credentials Better”- Henry Cejudo Compares His Resume to Khabib Nurmagomedov

The debate for the greatest ever to do it is something that fans across all sports quarrel about. Every sport has a set of athletes who have achieved things in the sport and done things that were previously unfathomable, thereby separating themselves from the rest. Khabib Nurmagomedov and Henry Cejudo are two such athletes.

In a recent clip, when a reporter asked Cejudo what he made of Nurmagomedov’s 29-0 record, he said, “It ain’t (easy) but it ain’t no Olympic gold and two UFC belts what’s up? I like my credentials better. But Khabib is the real deal. I think Khabib is the real deal. He’s retired now.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Henry Cejudo: who has a better resume?

In a sport where losses are so common, and a split-second lapse of concentration can end the fight, ‘The Eagle’ has been flawless in 29 professional fights. Being undefeated in MMA is something that is rare.

However, having an undefeated record of 29-0 is something that has never been seen before. ‘The Eagle’ has dominated every minute of every round in his UFC career. In his career, he has just lost 2 rounds (and ended the fight in the subsequent round on both occasions). Furthermore, he defended his belt thrice.

Critics however will argue that ‘The Eagle’ fought novices in his first few fights and that the fights were only two five-minute rounds.

Triple C’, on the other hand, is an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling. At the time he was the youngest ever to win Olympic gold for the United States in wrestling. In his MMA career, he has suffered two losses and has avenged one. ‘Triple C’ also has two title defenses to his name across two weight divisions. Cejudo is one of the very few athletes to have held gold simultaneously in two different weight classes in the UFC.

Given the longevity of his career and his performances inside the octagon, ‘The Eagle’ edges out ‘Triple C’ in terms of having the more impressive resume.
