“Mode Activated”: Coach Patrick Mouratoglou Shares Serena Williams’ Training for Wimbledon Championships 2021

Former World No. 1 Serena Williams saw a bitter ending to her much-anticipated clay-court season. After three scintillating victories at the French Open 2021, she faced an upset afterward.

In the pre-quarters, the 21-year-old Kazakhstan professional Elena Rybakina had bettered the tennis queen 6-3, 7-5. However, the chase for Serena’s 24th Grand Slam title is far from over.

Notably, Serena is getting ready for the next Grand Slam tournament, the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Moreover, it is the event that has given her the most success compared to the other major tournaments.

Serena Williams begins training for Wimbledon Championships 2021

After her loss at the French Open, the American suggested that she might not participate in any tune-up tournaments for Wimbledon. Nevertheless, this did not mean that she would take one of the most prestigious tennis events for granted.

In a recent Instagram post, Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena’s coach, shared a glimpse of her training session. Excitingly, the video shows the 8-time Wimbledon champion engulfed in a casual hitting session on a hard court. She precisely orchestrated the point and finished it with an overhead backhand.

Patrick captioned the video, “Forward-looking. Wimbledon mode activated.”

After her performance in Paris, the 39-year-old shooed away fitness-related doubts. In fact, she was one of the most prominent candidates for the title.

However, Serena will let the past stay in the past and focus ahead on her next destination. Arguably, she has the best chances of winning her long-awaited 24th Grand Slam title on the grass paradise.

The impact of Serena’s decision to eliminate warm-up tournaments is still unknown, and the 23-time Grand Slam champion will have all eyes on her at Wimbledon 2021.

However, Serena’s only concern is the ever-growing talent on the WTA Tour. It would be intriguing to see her prepare for them once again. Above all, the American professional has a higher chance of winning than any of her opponents. But it would still be a massive challenge.

The main event starts on 28 June and will run till 11 July 2021. Will Serena finally reach her 24 majors milestone at Wimbledon?
