Spice Girls announce first new song since 2007 for Wannabe 25th anniversary celebrations
This is what we want, what we really, really want – new Spice Girls music!
This summer, the iconic girl band are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut single Wannabe with a special campaign and a limited edition EP featuring a previously unreleased track.
This is not a drill – Wannabe25 is coming to vinyl, cassette and streaming services in July, and there’s plenty to get excited about.
As well as an as-yet-unheard demo version of Wannabe, the original radio edit and the Junior Vasquez remix, fans will also be treated to Feed Your Love.
The track will be available to stream from July 9, with a physical release following shortly after on July 23.
Honestly, that already feels too long to wait!
Of course, Wannabe was where it all began for Sporty, Scary, Posh, Baby and Ginger – Mel C, Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner – as the girls were launched into superstardom.
If Feed Your Love is even close to that level of banger, we’re all in for a treat.
As well as the EP release, the band has also launched the #IAmASpiceGirl campaign to celebrate ‘people power’.
They said in a statement: ‘The Spice Girls belong to everyone and that’s why we want to mark 25 years of Wannabe by celebrating our incredible fans.’
With that said, the band are inviting all fans to take a trip down memory lane and share their stories to be featured on the Spice Girls website and socials as part of the celebration.
The press release teases: ‘There is a Spice Girl within all of us, and their rise to fame was a story lived by millions of us around the world… it’s time for those stories to be told.’
As part of the campaign, a video has been released – which you can watch further up the page – featuring appearances and quotes from the likes of Adele, Blake Lively, Sam Smith and more.
