The Morning Show season two trailer has just dropped and Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have amped up the drama.

Returning to Apple TV Plus this autumn, season two of the hit drama will pick up from the fallout of Mitch Kessler’s (Steve Carrell) sexual misconduct controversy and all the bombshells that emerged from it.

Jennifer will return as The Morning Show’s lead anchor Alex Levy, while Reese will reprise her role as Alex’s enthusiastic sidekick Bradley Jackson.

The new trailer opens with the final moments of season one, where Alex and Bradley teamed up to expose all the dirty secrets that happened behind-the-scenes of their breakfast show.

It appears Alex is no longer working on the programme as she’s seen enjoying a morning coffee in the most gorgeous of holiday cabins surrounded by thick snow.

Poor Bradley is dealing with the fallout of their on-air expose in New York and splays herself out on a bed, clearly exhausted from all the drama.

Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) springs to action in trying to save The Morning Show and tells a network executive: ‘Let me make this simple – we have to get Alex back.’ However, he’s reminded by a colleague: ‘She publicly left the show.’

The high-flying TV network boss jets over to Alex’s idyllic retreat to try and persuade her to return, but she tells him: ‘I don’t want to. I’m not coming back.’

Over in NYC, Bradley is dealing with her own problems and says: ‘He hurt me. This is about them doing things behind my back,’ presumably about Cory who she grew close to in season one.

The two later have a heated exchange in which she tells him fiercely: ‘Don’t tell me it’s all gonna work out.’

Relations between Bradley and Alex are tense after their bombshell moment from season one, and the ambitious reporter tells her predecessor: ‘Everything changed in a minute. The whole world changed. I thought we were a team.’

However in the midst of all the high drama, viewers are treated to a reminder of the series’ sharp humour as Alex hits back sarcastically: ‘Honestly Bradley, a friendship with you seems like a bountiful journey.’

Steve Carrell also returns as Mitch, while Mark Duplass reprises his role as producer Chip Black.

The Morning Show debuts on Apple TV Plus on September 17.
