Samoa Joe replacing William Regal on WWE NXT?

On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed William Regal’s promo is a cue for Samoa Joe to takeover. He added that it isn’t a sure thing. Although he’s definitely hearing of Joe returning in a Regal-like role.

Meltzer said, “I think that’s the cue for Samoa Joe. I don’t know that 100%. I was told today that Samoa Joe was gonna be in a Regal-like role, then all of a sudden Regal’s talking like he’s stepping down, so maybe the Regal-like role is Regal’s role.”

Meltzer added if William Regal is really leaving, then Joe is a favorite to replace him as the GM of NXT. He also noted Joe returning to WWE in a non-wrestling role means he’s still not cleared for an in-ring return.

The veteran wrestling journalist concluded, “He’s taken a job in NXT and he’s doing something there, and he may be the new authority figure on television, or he may not be. But he’s gonna be behind-the-scenes.” H/t WrestleTalk

We already know there were talks of bringing back Samoa Joe to NXT. In fact, he was even spotted at the WWE Performance Center a few days ago. Now, if he appears on the black and gold brand on Tuesday, then it will be definitely be a huge shocker!

Although we’re still wondering what and how Triple H and his team at NXT is planning to bring Samoa Joe on-screen. After all, no matter how good he is, it would be really difficult to imagine a NXT without William Regal.
