Watch: Doug Coby has a Hilarious Celebration Fail Post his Win in the Inaugural SRX Series Race

Recently, the inaugural Camping World SRX Series kicked off at the Stafford Motor Speedway. In the process, Doug Coby had the honor of being the first SRX winner. Unfortunately, he made a bit of a spectacle of himself while celebrating the win. While clambering out of the car, he fell out of the window and tumbled to the ground.

On a more serious note, the New England native dominated the 100 lap feature. In addition to that, he fended off NASCAR greats Greg Biffle and Tony Stewart on a late restart to win the first ever SRX event.

Helio Castroneves missed out on a Top 3, while Bobby Labonte finished in 5th place. Meanwhile, Ernie Francis Jr., Tony Kanaan, Willy T. Ribbs, Paul Tracy and Marco Andretti rounded out the Top 10. Finally Michael Waltrip and Bill Elliott completed the pack

How did Doug Coby win the maiden SRX Series race?

It is worth mentioning that the 41-year-old has a wealth of experience at Stafford. In addition to that, he is a six-time champion of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. This also means that he boasts of 30 feature wins at Stafford in the Whelen Modified series.

“What a special night for short track racing in America. This is a special night for Stafford Motor Speedway and everybody who’s a short track racer around the country, whether you’re dirt or asphalt,” Coby said. “This means a lot to short trackers. The only thing I screwed up tonight was my exit, and I’d do it all over again if that’s what it takes to win this race.”

After winning, Doug Coby dedicated the victory to former car owner Don King. As it turns out, King was a longtime figure in the regional racing community. Coby paid tribute to the man, following his tragic passing earlier this week, by wearing a special helmet.
