***Warning, spoilers for the series finale ahead.***

After seven seasons Younger has come to a conclusion, and two stars of the show have some thoughts on how it ended, as well as where their characters will end up in the future.

The show had everything from love triangles and break-ups to make-ups and a romantic proposal, and Liza (Sutton Foster) and Charles (Peter Hermann) finally decided how things would end for the relationship.

Sorry Team Charles fans, but they didn’t get the Happily Ever After that we all assumed would happen.

In fact, things ended up going right back to the start as Liza appeared to be reconnecting with Josh (Nico Tortorella).

Knowing the ups and downs they’ve had as friends and lovers, the open-endedness of the series’ last scene’s gives plenty of space for viewer interpretation.

At an online panel for the show attended by Deadline, Molly Bernard (Lauren) and Nico shared their thoughts on their character’s endings.

When asked what kind of futures they imagined for their characters, Nico mentioned how tattoo artist, Josh, ended up back with Liza.

‘There’s space for newness in a relationship that so many people were hoping for,’ Nico said.

‘I first and foremost want Josh to continue co-parenting Gemma in a beautiful way; he’ll continue to be a good dad. And there’s room for more children in his future. It could happen.’

Nico said there is hope for Liza and Josh, as by the end of the show his character was stepping into his prime, as he bought an apartment building and business was doing well.

Molly Bernard, who played the wesenheimer inhouse publicist at Empirical Publishing said she wants Lauren to focus on herself and her career as much as she focuses on her friends.

Even though she is happy with how her character’s story ended, there is more that she wished for.

‘It’s cute that she became the inhouse publicist, but I’m sad that Heller Good PR didn’t take off,’ she explained.

Younger is available to stream on Paramount+ in the US, while fans in the UK can currently tune into previous seasons on Comedy Central.
