Ex-WWE star Renee Young and Jon Moxley want baby Nora to ‘take risks’ and make the most of life
Ex-WWE star Renee Young (now Paquette) and her husband Jon Moxley both want their baby girl to ‘take risks’ and make the most of life’s big opportunities.
The new parents – who welcomed their first daughter Nora into the world this week – both have a similar outlook on raising their child and making sure she chases her dreams, whatever they may be.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk before his baby’s birth, AEW wrestler Jon said: ‘The advice I’d give to any child I have, any friend of mine, anybody in the world, anybody reading this – if you’re blessed with the opportunity, you’re healthy and have the opportunity to do the things you love in life, you’ve gotta take advantage while we’re here!
‘I’m blessed that I get to do what I like to do for a living – I would do it for free, but they just happen to pay me for it and I don’t have to go to a regular job and clock in 9 to 5.
‘Being afraid to do stuff and sitting in your little safety bubble, staying at home watching Netflix isn’t really for me.’
Jon admitted his outlook – including his approach to bloody deathmatches – could change with actually being a parent and seeing his daughter grow up, but both he and Renee agreed that it’s important to have a happy family.
‘I want her to see what both of us do. I want her to see me working a lot, I want her to see Jon doing what he does and thriving like that,’ Renee told us during her pregnancy.
‘Life is not about just finding that safety net. It’s about taking risks and enjoying that things that you do.’
The Oral Sessions podcast host – who released her first cookbook last month – also wants their girl to be as ‘passionate’ about whatever she wants to do, just like her mum and dad.
She added: ‘More than anything, I just hope our daughter will be as passionate about something as we both are about our jobs.
‘I think that’s the main thing for us to project onto her. It’s just, find the thing that you’re passionate about and do whatever you can to make your own dreams come true.’
For Jon – who met Renee while they were both working for WWE – he stressed the importance of living in the moment, without being ‘stupid’ with it.
‘I would advise my children to probably take advantage and live life while it’s here. At any moment,’ he paused. ‘I could wake up tomorrow and never be able to wrestle again, you have no idea.
‘At the same time, there’s that and then there’s just being stupid and reckless! I’m not advising anybody to go drunk driving or f***ing do parkour on top of the Empire State Building or anything like that.
‘There’s some s**t where I’m like, that’s stupid, you’re gonna die! But definitely take the opportunity to live life to its fullest.’
Renee confirmed their new arrival on Tuesday, while revealing Jon was taking over her podcast this week as the first of several guest hosts.
She tweeted: ‘Baby girl is officially here, so I’m checking out and becoming a mom. (She’s absolutely incredible!!)
‘I have a bunch of guest hosts lined up for you guys and I started with none other than my baby daddy, cool dude husband @JonMoxley (sic)’
