ITV’s Love Island – hosted by Laura Whitmore – is set to return this summer after the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to the summer 2020 and winter 2021 series.

While there is no concrete news on who will be setting foot in the villa or Casa Amor just yet, there are a number of rumours swirling.

Here we take a look at who could be appearing on the show, including a boxer with a famous family member and an NHS frontline doctor.

Could we be getting to know these folk on our telly this summer season?

Toluwa Adepeju, 25

Toluwa Adepeju is a 25-year-old NHS hospital doctor who worked throughout the height of the pandemic.

However, he may be hanging up his scrubs for the time being to jet abroad for Love Island.

A source told The Sun: ‘He’s led from the very front – in hospital and online, educating people of the risks and the need to get vaccinated.

‘He is the perfect pick. He’s modest, down to earth and loves what he does.’

Alexis Bailey, 21

Alexis Bailey is a beauty with a hidden talent – she’s a fire eater.

The aerial dancer is said to have just gone through a break-up so she could be looking for love in the villa.

A source told The Sun: ‘She loves sex and is always talking about it. She’s very open about it but is incredibly likeable and loves to party.

‘There are no limits as far as she is concerned and she very much wears her heart on her sleeve. It’s fair to say she will bring some heat to the villa.’

Aimee-Rose Francis, 29

Aimee-Rose Francis may already be known by some viewers when she steps into the Spanish villa as she has 85,000 social media followers.

The influencer has previously modelled for Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo so she’s got some good practice in for any fashion deals she scores after the show.

Beauty Aimee is also a businesswoman having launched her own jewellery company, so Love Island will be a great platform for her brand.

Harley Benn, 24

Harley Benn is the son of famous boxer Nigel Benn, however, their relationship hasn’t always been straight forward.

‘My dad and I have had an inconsistent relationship,’ he previously told the Mail Online.

Harley, who is also a boxer, previously had a public spat with Nigel on Twitter but the pair have now put it in the past.

James Price, 23

London boy James Price is known on the Chelsea party scene and bosses are said to have been keen to get him on the 2021 series of Love Island.

He has previously been linked to former Love Islander Lucie Donlan, according to the MailOnline.

They met each other before she appeared on the show, with a source telling the website: ‘He’s cheeky, fun and handsome – and will be a sure-fire hit with the female contestants, while he’s also on the lookout for his dream girl.

‘Lucie Donlan is his type on paper. They grew close in Newquay the summer before she went on the show but their flirtation didn’t grow into a relationship.

‘While James is from Worcester, his group of friends reside in Fulham and he spent a lot of time before the pandemic partying in Chelsea.’

Holly Ramsay, 21

Holly Ramsay is another potential Love Islander with a famous father – she is the daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay.

She has reportedly been eyed up by producers, with a source telling The Sun: ‘Holly’s been brought up to work hard, show respect and not to rely on her dad’s celebrity.

‘She’s finding her own way and will be successful in her own right.’

However, a spokesperson for Gordon denied the claims, telling the Mirror: ‘This is not true. Holly has no interest in joining the show although she has been approached many times.’

Alisha Lemay, 28

Influencer Alisha Lemay already comes with a following, with 160,000 fans on Instagram.

She’s pals with The Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks but her celebrity status could move offline and become mainstream if she appears on Love Island this summer.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Alisha is exactly the type of contestant ITV2 are looking for – she’s gorgeous, body confident and isn’t afraid to be herself.

‘She’s an advocate of body positivity and often admits on her Instagram to never wanting to be perfect, which is an important message to young viewers of the show too.’

Ellis Iyayi, 21

Ellis Iyayi was rumoured to be appearing in the winter version of Love Island last year but he didn’t appear.

And the influencer, who has 263,000 followers on Instagram, could set hearts racing.

On his appearance last year, a source told The Sun: ‘Ellis is over the moon about it – he’s had to be sworn to secrecy about it but he’s been in to meet producers a few times and they love him – he can’t wait to get in the villa.

‘Ellis is exactly what the show is looking for and he ticks all the boxes – he will make great television.’

He didn’t make an appearance last year but could 2021 be his year?

Jay Munro, 24

Footballer-turned-model James Munro was another winter Love Island contestant who didn’t take part.

He’s already had a taste of fame after appearing on The Voice Australia and he may be hoping to set the girls’ hearts racing this summer.

A source told the Daily Star: ‘Jay will be the one all the girls will be chasing. Just like Tommy Fury, he’s a sportsman, in good shape and has dreamy looks.

Lucy Plunkett

20-year-old Dubliner Lucy Plunkett is a stylist and Instagram influencer who also owns the clothing company Lulelabel.

She’s dropped some very heavy hints that she’s bound for the villa after posting a snap of herself on Instagram Stories posing in some bikinis, captioning the snap: ‘Ordering my last takeaway tonight, I’m emotional.’

A friend of hers has since told local press: ‘I expect her to be herself. She may sometimes come across as mean due to her honest nature but she is a girl’s girl and a sweetheart once you get to know her.’

Lucinda Strafford

Lucinda, 21, is reported to be the ex-girlfriend of Brighton and Hove Albion player Aaron Connolly – with reports suggesting he is less than happy about the move.

However sources have said that the former British Airways air steward, who was made redundant, wants to go on the show to publicise her clothing business The Luxe Range.

‘She wants fame and money – she’s always wanted to become a celebrity,’ a source told The Sun.
