Dwayne Johnson has topped a list of reasons to love the US of A according to People magazine, coming higher than Covid-19 vaccines and Dolly Parton.

It’s not surprising – with his friendly smile, warm personality and charming appearances in family friendly films such as Moana and Jumanji (and his ability to dish out an ass-whupping in Fast and Furious), it’s impossible not to fangirl/fanboy over him.

The actor said he feels like a ‘lucky guy’ to have had such a stellar career from wrestling to Hollywood action blockbuster star.

The father-of-three, 49, added that he is ‘appreciative’ of the title.

‘ I’ve been a lucky guy over the years to have the career that I’ve been blessed enough to have,’ he told People.

‘And things like this, I’m always appreciative. We’re here in Hawaii, where I did a lot of my growing up … I was just Dwayne Johnson, the kid who’s having a hard time going to school making his classes.

‘I never expected in my wildest of wild dreams that I would ever be in a position to be on the cover of People – and certainly not with this kind of title.’

The star confessed he and his family, like many others, were shaken by the coronavirus pandemic and he took to imagining had to go to work every day in order to help himself through it mentally.

The former WWE wrestler, who went under the name The Rock, and wife Lauren Hashian share daughters Jasmine, five, and three-year-old Tia. He is also dad to 19-year-old daughter Simone who he shares with ex-wife Dany Garcia.

‘I did this weird thing every day where I still got up and got dressed like I was getting ready to go someplace. I mean, shoes and all. That helped me psychologically,’ he shared.

‘On a relationship and marriage standpoint, you realise you have to really be attentive to your reactions and responses, because your patience capacity starts to compress.’

Other reasons to love America according to People’s list included The 4th of July and Oprah Winfrey.
