Has Gina Carano hinted at Star Wars return after being fired by Disney from The Mandalorian?
Several Twitter users have speculated whether Gina Carano has hinted at a return to Star Wars after being fired from Disney Plus series The Mandalorian.
In February this year, it was announced that Carano had been axed from The Mandalorian as Cara Dune after sharing social media posts online that reportedly compared being a Republican to being Jewish in Nazi Germany, which she later claimed was not the case.
In a statement released by Lucasfilm, a spokesperson said: ‘Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.’
Despite it seeming unlikely that Carano would return to Star Wars after her fall-out with Disney, a cryptic post shared on Twitter has sparked speculation that she could go back.
The former mixed martial artist shared a picture on Twitter of a silhouetted figure against a sunset backdrop, with the background not showing one but three suns in the distance.
Although any dedicated Star Wars fan will know that the iconic Tatooine sunset has two suns not three, the picture posted on Twitter by the actor resulted in some people drawing parallels.
‘Is that Cara Dune in Tatooine?’ one person tweeted in response.
‘Ooh, a trinary sunset! Let me provide the appropriate music!’ another said, sharing a video of John Williams’ musical score for Binary Sunset in Star Wars.
However, others drew the conclusion that the tweet was in reference to Carano’s new film, which she is making in partnership with The Daily Wire, a conservative news and opinion website founded by right-wing political commentator Ben Shapiro.
‘”Star wars can keep its 2 suns, I’m going to have 3 in my movie”,’ one person replied.
Following the news of Carano’s axing, it was announced that Star Wars figurines depicting the 39-year-old would no longer be made.
In a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson for retailer BigBadToyStore said: ‘The Star Wars Black Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received.
‘Hasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting pre-orders from that production run.
‘Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure.’

The Mandalorian is available to watch on Disney Plus.
