Keith Thurman Uses Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali’s Name in a Rant Against Super Titles in Boxing

‘One Time’ Keith Thurman doesn’t appear to be a fan of so many world titles in boxing. Akin to several fans, he has expressed his disgust in the concept of the belts and has particularly belittled the ‘Super’ title holders in the sport.

While Thurman himself was a “regular” champion back in the days, he appeared favorable towards that title. He justified his statements by dragging Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali into the mix. While there are already many “super” champions in the roster, the former titlist lashed at all of them.

Speaking with FightHype.com, Keith Thurman said, “I don’t like the super, I don’t like the super. I think it’s super complicated, I think it’s a super waste of time.

He added, “If you look at the history of boxing, there was always regular champions. Muhammad Ali was a regular champion, Mike Tyson was a regular champion, and regular champions are the great champions. I don’t like this division amongst champions as a regular and a super.”

Well, that wouldn’t change the structure of boxing. As of now, there are umpteen world titles up for grabs. That said, each organization has various belts for each division, and the sport will continue having so numerous titleholders on board.

Meanwhile, Keith Thurman may not fall under the same bracket. Following his sole career loss to Manny Pacquiao, Thurman hasn’t fought again. So, does he have the chance to become a champion?

So, Thurman cannot afford to sit back and wait to see how the title ride plays out. He needs to return quickly and re-establish his dominance. That said, his former foe Manny Pacquiao is already coming to face Errol Spence Jr. for the WBA title. Hence, Thurman needs to decide a stacked move for his boxing career ahead.
