Facebook Is Officially Testing In-Game Ads For Oculus Quest Games And Apps

The moment that we all hate is here. Facebook has officially announced that it is going to test in-game ads for Oculus quest and apps. Last month, Facebook announced starting testing in-game ads in the Oculus mobile app. Resolution games’ Blaston will be the first game to show in-game ads and a couple of other developers over the coming weeks. More interestingly, all the ads will be using the same personalization tool currently in use by Facebook.

In simple words, players will be seeing only those targeted ads, similar to what we all get on Facebook. All the ads will follow Facebook advertising principles. Since having an official Facebook account is imperative to use the Oculus quest headset, there is absolutely no escape from seeing ads.

However, players will be able to hide some specific ads or even an entire advertiser that they do not want to see. Just like Facebook, players will be able to see complete detailed ad preferences. Complete details ads preferences help players to understand why they are seeing that particular ad. Players can also visit the privacy center to learn in detail about all the privacy settings and how to change the oculus data.

Facebook, in a blog post, said, ”It is important that people can manage the Ads they see, so we are including controls to hide specific ads or hide ads from an advertiser completely. Users can also access more detailed ad preferences from any ad. We are also exploring new ways for developers to generate revenue. This is a key part of ensuring we are creating a self-sustaining platform that can support a variety of business models that unlocks new types of content and audiences”.
