A group of anti-vaxxers have been seen protesting outside a Foo Fighters concert after the band announced they were going to perform a full-capacity show which only fans who had been fully vaccinated could attend.

The band performed their first concert in over a year on Tuesday at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California, as a warm-up for their much-anticipated gig at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 20.

Dave Grohl and the band had announced that they would be playing the first full-capacity show without social distancing or masks at the venue, but attendance would only be admitted to ticketholders who could prove they had had both doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with the second being administered at least two weeks prior.

They tweeted: ‘We’ve been waiting for this day for over a year. And @TheGarden is going to feel that HARD.

‘New York, get ready for a long a** night of screaming our heads off together to 26 years of Foos.’

The coronavirus vaccine has been ruled to be safe and effective in the battle against coronavirus, with over 2.45billion doses having been administered worldwide so far.

While the vaccine has been proven to be a key component in getting life back to normal following the coronavirus pandemic and ensuring events can go ahead as safely as possible, some fans were not happy about not being eligible to attend if they were unvaccinated.

A group, led by actor Ricky Schroder, 51, turned up with placards to protest outside of the Foo Fighters’ gig this week.

The anti-vaxxers were upset by the band’s support of the Covid-19 vaccine, holding banners reading: ‘Stop the hate in the vaccine debate’ and ‘modern segregation’.

Ricky, who is best known for his role in The Champ, was seen wearing a T-shirt with the slogan: ‘Just say no to the vaccine passport’  t-shirt and carrying a sign which read: ‘Covid vaccine makers are exempt from liability.’

Ahead of the protest, he shared a mocked-up image of Dave holding a vaccine, writing: ‘Dave Grohl is an ignorant punk who needs slapped for supporting Discrimination. Kurt Cobain is laughing at you Dave along with Millions of Patriots….Wakeup Fool.

‘Let’s show Dave how we feel this Tuesday night at his Canyon Club show for discriminating against Americans who choose Freedom (NO-Experimental Vax) over Medical Slavery (Sheep).’

The Foo Fighters’ upcoming show will be followed by a run of live gigs across the US this summer, after their 25th anniversary shows were postponed from 2020 due to venues being forced to shut down amid the pandemic.

The band also appeared at Vax Live: The Concert To Reunite The World, which raised £214million towards worldwide vaccination efforts.

Reps for Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters declined to comment.
