Tom Hiddleston is the latest star to sign up to read a Bedtime Story for CBeebies.

Fresh from his role in the Disney Plus series Loki, the 40-year-old actor will make his debut with a family-friendly tale on June 25.

Tom will read Supertato, a story by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet, about a superhero potato and a supervillain pea – and we’re not going to lie, it sounds incredible.

Tom starts the story by saying: ‘Tonight’s bedtime story is all about a supervillain. This guy is really naughty, very cheeky… and bright green.

‘But never fear, because where there’s trouble, a superhero is sure to follow.’

Also signed up is TV presenter Cat Deeley, who will read a story on Father’s Day in the UK on June 20.

She will read Love Makes A Family by Sophie Beer, which focuses on the love shared by parents and children.

‘I love reading to my boys and they equally love watching CBeebies, so I was thrilled to be invited and actually get to read a real story this time,’ Cat said.

‘We had lots of fun on set with magical unicorns and dancing vegetables but, thankfully, no giant Geordie koalas!’

They’re the latest stars to read a Bedtime Story for CBeebies, following the likes of Tom Hardy, Dolly Parton, Orlando Bloom, David Schwimmer and Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page.

Tom is no stranger to monologues like this one. The news comes just days after Loki star Tom had Disney Plus viewers freaking out after delivering a Latin monologue in the new series.

The MCU show sees Tom reprise his role as the God of Mischief, as he finds himself caught up in the web of the TVA (Time Variance Authority), an organisation that keeps a close eye on the flow of time with the help of their Time-Keepers.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories airs each weekday at 6.50pm on the CBeebies channel and is also available on BBC iPlayer. The first two episodes of Loki are out now on Disney Plus, with new episodes dropping on Wednesdays.
