‘I Definitely Had An Out Of Body Experience’- Claressa Shields Talks About The Effect Of Switching Sports

Claressa Shields is a multiple-time world boxing champion and is often considered by many as the greatest boxer ever. ‘T-Rex’ has achieved almost everything there is in boxing. Therefore, the fighter tried something new and made her MMA debut at PFL 4 on June 10, 2021.

In her debut fight Shields displayed just how good she is, as she defeated Brittney Elkin via a 3rd round TKO. While many MMA fighters have moved from MMA to boxing. There are very few who do the opposite, as moving from boxing to MMA successfully is very challenging.

However, that wasn’t the case with ‘T-Rex’ as she dominated her opponent to win the fight quite comfortably. Recently the fighter talked about her MMA debut and how she felt after the win.

“It’s crazy so, my second Olympic gold medal was like the highlight of my life. That was probably like the happiest day of my life. But then I went to an MMA fight. I felt those kinds of same emotions, which was so weird because it was like, it’s just in my debut.”

“But I think like me switching over to whole another sport and having so much against me made me feel that way. So yeah, I definitely had an Out-of-body experience, and it was great to experience for sure.”

We consider an Olympic medal amongst the greatest of sports achievement and Shields comparing that victory of hers to her MMA debut victory, illustrates just how much it meant to her.

What next for Claressa Shields?

Following Shields‘s (1-0) victory at the PFL event. Many people have started speculating as to what the fighter will do next. Fans from all over the world want to see the fighter get back in the cage as soon as possible.

‘T-Rex’ has often said that she would love to compete in boxing and MMA simultaneously. Although there is no boxing or MMA fight that has been announced for Shields.

Whether ‘T-Rex’ fights in a boxing match or she enters her second MMA fight. One thing is for sure whatever the fighter does next, we as fans will be eager to see the legend compete.
