Joe Joyce Set to Collide with Veteran Carlos Takam on July 24

Joe Joyce has finally got an opponent against whom he can make his much-awaited return. After much discussion and rigmarole, Joyce will enter a gigantic 12-round showdown against the veteran Carlos Takam on July 24th. This fight has come in at the ideal time for the Brit, as both he and Takam are in their prime.

In this encounter, ‘Juggernaut’ will defend his WBC silver heavyweight title against Takam. Furthermore, the vacant WBO inter-continental heavyweight title will be up for grabs.

Earlier, Joyce was in contention to face Oleksandr Usyk in a WBO heavyweight title eliminator. However, as a cascading effect of Wilder’s court case win, that bout abruptly fell through as Usyk will challenge Anthony Joshua.

In his last fight, ‘Juggernaut‘ went all out against his compatriot, Daniel Dubois, who was the favorite. However, when the actual fight took place, Joyce turned the tide in his favor by battering his younger foe. He dismantled ‘Dynamite’ and established himself as a stern contender.

Additionally, with that win, the 35-year-old also opened himself up for even bigger fights in the future. And since he’s bagged a high-profile opponent in Takam for his next outing, Joyce will only look to giving his best, making himself viable for ‘AJ’s belt.

Can Joe Joyce make his roadway to the heavyweight gold in 2021?

Joe Joyce has put on some magnificent performances until now. He also has retained his undefeated streak and is going super strong with his 12-0 record.

However, if he wishes to fight for the heavyweight gold, ‘Juggernaut’ will have to add a few more wins to his resume. If he does that in 2021 itself, needless to say, the Brit will open himself up for a title shot in early 2022. It’ll be interesting to see how he molds his career in the coming months.
