Paul Murdaugh, 22, and mom ‘targeted with death threats’ before they were both ‘shot dead in suspected targeted attack’

THE family of Paul Murdaugh has claimed he was receiving threats from strangers before he and his mother were shot dead in a potentially targeted attack last week.

The 22-year-old and his mother Maggie, 52, were found dead with “multiple gunshot wounds” outside the family’s South Carolina hunting lodge on June 7.

His death came just days after a hearing on a wrongful death civil suit filed against him following the death of a friend in a boating accident two years ago.

The family of 19-year-old Mallory Beach filed the suit against Paul after he allegedly crashed his father’s boat “full throttle” into a bridge in May 2019 while intoxicated following a fight with friends.

Beach and the five other passengers were hurled from the boat and her body was only found a week later.

Paul was also awaiting a court date on three felony charges of boating under the influence for the fatal crash.

His uncles revealed in an interview on Thursday that Paul received a series of threats in the lead-up to the double slaying.

Yet they claimed they did not believe them to be “credible.”

The family also said that the threats were coming from people they did not know.

“I didn’t think it was a credible threat — if it was, I would have tried to do something or notify someone,” John Marvin Murdaugh told Good Morning America.

“But I guess … maybe I made a mistake,” he added whiel becoming upset.

The family issued a plea for help in tracking down the killers with no motive or suspect yet identified by authorities.

Officials have not said if they believe the murders to be linked to Beach’s death.

However, they are investigating whether Paul was the prime suspect of the attack instead of his mother.
