Stephanie McMahon Blames Ronda Rousey For Keeping her Away from the Ring

In 2018, Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut at WrestleMania 34. Her opponents were WWE’s power couple, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The former UFC champion steamrolled her way past both the Game and Stephanie to pick up a huge win.

Why does Stephanie McMahon not want to wrestle?

Since 2018, we haven’t seen Stephanie McMahon wrestle in a WWE ring. The Billion Dollar Princess isn’t just a part-time wrestler, but also a former Women’s Champion. In the past decade, she’s taken some crazy bumps from Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and of course, Ronda Rousey.

Rousey not only humiliated Steph, she also broke her arm. At WrestleMania, Rousey made McMahon submit to her dreaded armbar, and actually broke it the next night on Raw. Speaking to Yahoo Finance, Stephanie McMahon talked about why she hasn’t stepped in the ring since her altercation with Rousey.

“Ever since Ronda Rousey broke my arm, I have a little PTSD. I’m not sure you’re going to see me in the ring anytime soon, but I guarantee for SummerSlam, there is going to be a lot of surprises.” (H/T Fightful Wrestling)

We aren’t devastated over Stephanie saying she won’t wrestle, but her news about SummerSlam has piqued the interests of many. While we won’t see her wrestle, fortunately, we’re guaranteed a ton of surprises from WWE’s Chief Brand Officer.

Stephanie addresses merging of departments

After WrestleMania 37, WWE went on a spree of releases. Not only talent but corporate staff also came under the axe. Names like Adam Kirshner, Jaylar Donlan and Brian Pellegatto lost their jobs, while the departments they headed merged to form one super team.

For a while it seemed like the only people with secure jobs at Titan Towers were Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn. Although the dark cloud of releases loomed large over their heads, the company is still hopeful of a boom period, especially with WWE live tours beginning once again.

“Like a lot of media companies, we’re in the process of transition and evolution. When you consider the fact that we had three different media teams doing the same work, we realized there was a lot of duplication and inefficiency. It’s being more prudent business people and looking at our business in a different way,” said Stephanie.

From Stephanie’s words, it looks like WWE isn’t cutting slack from any wrestler, and this no-nonsense company just got a lot stricter.
