WWE’s Piper Niven delivers perfect response to body shaming trolls as stars rally behind her after Raw debut
WWE superstar Piper Niven has delivered the perfect clapback to body shaming online trolls days after making her Raw debut.
The Scottish wrestler made the jump from NXT UK to the red brand on Monday as she appeared alongside the returning Eva Marie and made quick work of Naomi in a dominating first match on the main roster.
Despite being one of the best the UK has to offer, some people hit out at Niven for her looks, but she wasn’t going to let them ruin her big moment.
After a follower asked why the trolls were posting such nasty comments – a very, very good question – the star was quick to offer a brilliant response.
She tweeted: ‘Successful big people are often met with this because we remind people of their own shortcomings, they want to believe that success is only for the “perfect people” and that’s why they didn’t achieve their dreams and we prove them wrong.
‘Don’t even worry about them, I don’t.’
Although Piper – who is yet to get a new name after moving up to Raw – took the comments in her stride, other WWE superstars leaped to her defence and called out her critics on Twitter.
Mia Yim tweeted: ‘The body shaming is disgusting. Y’all bold behind the screens. It costs nothing to be kind.’
Charlotte Flair retweeted the message to her followers with several emojis pointing down to draw attention to it.
NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed also responded to Mia’s post and revealed he too suffers abuse on social media.
He added: ‘This happens to me every time I’m on screen, don’t worry about the haters … they can stay hating, we keep shining. (Sic)’
And Nash Carter – who, along with his MSK partner Wes Lee, teamed up with Reed at TakeOver: In Your House over the weekend – supported his pal.
He replied: ‘Bet they can’t be a champion in WWE and put a dude through a wall. You’re the man.’
