Now, his former NBA teammate, BJ Armstrong, who won three NBA titles with Jordan in the early stages of his career, has spoken about Michael’s self-belief and demeanor.

During the 1992 NBA finals, the Bulls were leading 3-2 in their series against the Portland Trail Blazers. They had the opportunity to close out the series in Chicago and win their second consecutive NBA title. Armstrong spoke about the players not being focused and how they did not play the game well. Even Jordan was not up to the mark. However, with Jordan, nothing was impossible.

BJ Armstrong remembered when Jordan told Phil Jackson to let him play, despite putting on a sub-standard performance from the bench. BJ even spoke in awe of the mentality of Jordan during clutch moments.

“What a unique quality to have that you’re still in tune with the game even though you’re not playing well and that to me was just another example of how he carried himself, how he always prepared and more importantly winning was the only thing that mattered to him,” said Armstrong.

Jordan’s performance in game 6

The ability of Jordan to produce the goods when they mattered most was quite astounding. Jordan finished the game with 33 points, four assists, and four steals in that match while shooting at 54.2 percentage from the field in Game 6. The sheer drive and determination he showcased were something else.

The Bulls won their second consecutive title to spark wild celebrations amongst the fans. The offensive skill set MJ produced was quite remarkable, while not compromising on defense. Along with Scottie Pippen, MJ became the most devastating duo in NBA history.
