French GP: Mick Schumacher Warns Nikita Mazepin Against ’Scaring‘ Him Like Baku

Haas driver Mick Schumacher has warned his Russian teammate Nikita Mazepin ahead of the French Grand Prix. Furthermore, the German driver apprises his teammate to expect “harsher consequences” if he did not rectify his mistakes soon.

Mick Schumacher was way ahead of his teammate at Azerbaijan GP. However, the Verstappen crash resulted in a red flag which allowed Mazepin to un-lap himself after the restart.

During the last lap of the race, Nikita Mazepin was leading his teammate. But as Mick Schumacher went to overtake, the Russian moved his car over to the right to block Schumacher. Luckily, the German avoid any contact with his teammate.

What did Mick Schumacher say?

At the French Grand Prix drivers’ press conference Mick Schumacher has warned Mazepin to expect “harsher consequences” if he attempts to ‘scare or push him into the wall’ in the future.

“If it happens again, probably there will be harsher consequences. But also in that case, probably because it was an incident that happened between teammates it’s probably kept more internally than being outspoken and kind of dealt from and with the race directors or stewards,” said Mick Schumacher ahead of the French Grand Prix.

“In the moment it was rather confusing, in a way, because I was not expecting it at all, especially between teammates… The only way you stop somebody is by scaring him or pushing into the wall. And obviously he tried to do that. I, in fairness, kept my foot down. So I got by him anyway.”

‘Mick should not expect to have it too easy’: Nikita Mazepin

Nikita Mazepin has apologized to Mick Schumacher after the Baku controversy. However, he warned his teammate not to “expect to have it too easy” against him in their battle at Haas.

“I apologized to him, as that’s how he felt, and he clearly was very upset. But I would just say that it’s very important that he doesn’t expect to have it too easy, and I’m never going to not block.”

“But I clearly just didn’t expect him to be where he ended up being,” said Nikita Mazepin at the French Grand Prix drivers’ press conference.

“If he felt the way he did, I said sorry, because that’s what I think I should be doing. However, it wasn’t for my particular doing.”

After six rounds, Haas seeks to secure their first points of the season. Meanwhile, there were some promising signs from the Haas drivers as they secured their best finish in F1 at Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with Mick Schumacher finishing at P13 and Nikita Mazepin finishing at P14.
