‘I have no doubt’: Lorraine Kelly boldly predicts Piers Morgan will return to Good Morning Britain despite explosive exit over Meghan Markle row
Lorraine Kelly predicts Piers Morgan will be back on Good Morning Britain after he sensationally quit earlier this year.
Following a record number of Ofcom complaints about his remarks dismissing Meghan Markle’s mental health and a row with GMB weatherman Alex Beresford, Piers left the ITV programme with immediate effect back in March.
While he’s only doubled down on his remarks about the Duchess of Sussex, and despite GMB bosses giving the 56-year-old an ultimatum, his friend and ITV daytime colleague Lorraine is sure he’ll be returning to the show one day as ratings continue to slide in his absence.
‘He will be back in some shape or form, I have no doubt,’ she told The Sun.
‘I know nothing, but never count him out of anything.
‘What’s that game where you bash things and they keep coming back? That’s him.
‘He’s still doing Life Stories and all of that. He’s tweeting his a** off and writing his columns.
‘I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back. Nothing would surprise me about Piers.’
The presenter recently claimed ITV had been in touch about a possible comeback and said: ‘Never say never.’
However, GB News stalwart Andrew Neil recently confirmed he’s been in ‘good conversations’ with Piers to join the shambolic news channel and claimed he ruled out ever returning to breakfast TV.
‘All my indications are that Piers doesn’t want another breakfast show,’ Andrew told Radio Times. ‘But I think if he does any more British news TV it’s more likely to be with us than with anybody else.
‘We’re in good discussions, we continue to stay in touch and he knows that we feel that he would be a great addition to the line-up.’
Since Piers’ exit, Adil Ray has largely filled his seat, while Richard Madeley brought some welcomed chaos to the programme.
Martin Lewis is set to host alongside Susanna Reid on the week commencing June 28.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
