‘My God’: Draymond Green and NBA Twitter Go Crazy as John Collins Baptizes Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid led Sixers had a rough start to their do-or-die Game 6 against the Atlanta Hawks. After a 0-6 start, they were soon 12 points behind the visitors. However, the home team at Wells Fargo Center enjoyed a 7-0 beginning to the second quarter that forced the score 29-29.

The Process had a sluggish show as the night started with three early transitions for him. Even worse, both Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris attracted two early fouls that kept the Sixers hanging by a thread in Q1. The major problem with the 76ers was their inability to move the ball and that awarded the Hawks the initial confidence. But something entirely out of the planet stole the show in Q3.

The Sixers had a Rey Mysterio-styled WWE entrance in Q3 with a 6:19 booyaka show and a decent nine-point lead. However, when the score was 68-59 in the Sixers’ favor, something rather unique happened. Forward John Collins dunked the ball over Joel Embiid in a fashion that left The Process rubbing his face in shock. Take a look –

Now this stupendous play on a rim dominator like Joel Embiid led to many Twitter reactions. From Draymond Green to Shannon Sharpe, everyone joined the wagon to praise the man.

What went wrong for the Sixers squad?

After a decent start to Q2 with no Joel Embiid and Seth Curry in sight, the Sixers soon allowed the Hawks 10 quick points that again pushed them far behind. Trae Young with his back-to-back layups and Huerter with his jump shots breezed through the Sixers’ defense each time with ease. Just 17 minutes into the game, Embiid had 5 turnovers, and that gifted the challengers a handful of transition plays which they cooked well. 

By halftime, the 76ers trailed by four points as Trae Young enjoyed a 20-point half as opposed to Joel’s 8 points. The Sixers could attempt only three free throws and complete just one in that time, hence continuing a poor trend from Game 5. Later, the Sixers picked some fire and took a lead going into Q4 but with their history from the last two games, nothing was sure until the very last moment.
