Twitch users ‘banned over suggestive ASMR streams’ after hot tub trend
Twitch bosses have banned a string of users over their ASMR Meta streams, it has been claimed.
Users including Amouranth and Indiefoxx have reportedly been axed from the platform over the new trend, which has seen some users uploading videos as they licked an ASMR microphone, while posing in leggings.
Some have filmed the clips in return for subscribers and donations – however it has been suggested that the new trend could go against the site’s strict rules.
Twitch policies say that ‘sexually suggestive content’ is banned – with warnings over nudity, ‘groping or explicit gestures directed towards breasts, buttocks, or genitals’, ‘simulated sex acts or sexual stimulation’ and suggestive camera angles.
Costume designer Amouranth – real name Kaitlyn Siragusa – confirmed the ban on Twitter, before asking her followers if they ‘miss her yet’.
‘Hey @Amouranth wanna go to a spa since we both have the weekend off? I could really use a tongue massage,’ Indiefoxx – aka Jenelle Dagres – tweeted.
Bosses have yet to speak out over the ban, which comes after the controversial ‘hot tub streams’ plagued the platform.
The videos saw live streamers playing video games while donning a bikini in a hot tub, appearing to find a loophole in the strict streaming rules.
The explosion in videos led to a new category being released on the site, for streams in Pools, Hot Tubs and Beaches.
‘First and foremost, no one deserves to be harassed for the content they choose to stream, how they look, or who they are, and we will take action against anyone who perpetuates this kind of toxicity on our service,’ a statement on behalf of the company said at the time.
‘Second, while we have guidelines about sexually suggestive content, being found to be sexy by others is not against our rules, and Twitch will not take enforcement action against women, or anyone on our service, for their perceived attractiveness.
‘Sexual suggestiveness is a spectrum that involves some degree of personal interpretation of where the line falls.’
