U.S. Open 2021: Complete Breakdown of the Prize Money From Winner to Last-Place

The world’s best golfers are currently in San Diego, California, competing at the U.S. Open 2021. The tournament has returned to Torrey Pines for the first time since 2008 and has got every golf fan hooked. So what is the total prize pool of the U.S. Open and how much will the winner take home this year?

It is worth knowing that the U.S. Open is one of the most lucrative golf tournaments in the world. It is nowhere near the mammoth $46 million prize pool given by the Tour Championship, but the U.S. Open awards the third highest prize money among every other tournament.

The total prize money of the U.S Open remains unchanged from 2020. The USGA awarded $12.5 million to the field last year, and the same will happen this year as well.

What’s at stake? Champion’s payout at U.S. Open 2021 and more

Of course, the champion will be treated to the highest share of the massive $12.5M prize purse at the U.S. Open 2021. Bryson DeChambeau took home a lump 18% share of the prize purse at Winged Foot last year, and the eventual champion at Torrey Pines will be treated to a similar payday this year.

The champion of the U.S. Open 2021 will receive a payout of $2,250,000. But that’s not all. He will also be awarded 600 FedExCup points, along with 100 Official World Golf Ranking points. All these are up for grabs at Torrey Pines currently.

Furthermore, here is the payout the top five positions will receive at the U.S. Open 2021:

Runner-up $1,350,000
Third place $861,457
