Piers Morgan’s son Spencer had the perfect way to send a Father’s Day message to his dad, by reminding him of a special moment in his turbulent career.

The broadcaster, 56, went out for a slap up meal with Spencer and son Stanley to celebrate Stanley’s 24th birthday.

As it was the day before Father’s Day, Spencer used the occasion to pay tribute to his old man with a tailor-made card referencing the dramatic moment Piers stormed off Good Morning Britain in March following a row with weather presenter Alex Beresford.

The front of his card carried an illustrated image of the TV presenter (flouncing tie and everything) leaving the set of the ITV programme, underneath the message: ‘Happy Father’s Day. Thanks for never walking out on me.’

Spencer, 27, was pretty proud of his choice which he revealed on Instagram in a photo of his dad holding it aloft at the table.

‘Little pre Father’s Day meal. I’ve completely smashed the card to be fair,’ he wrote in the picture caption.

Piers seemed to agree as he reposted the picture to his Instagram Story with the message ‘Thanks son’ and a laughing emoji.

As well as Spencer and Stanley, the Life Stories star and first wife Marion share 20-year-old son Albert. He is also dad to daughter Elise, nine, with wife Celia Walden.

Piers clashed with Alex on Good Morning Britain over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, with Piers expressing doubt about some of the duchess’ revelations about her mental health.

He quit on March 9 after 41,000 viewers complained about his remarks.

The TV star has since teased ‘interesting conversations’ about a possible comeback in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

‘There are lots of people that wouldn’t mind a piece of the action with somebody who trebled the ratings on that morning show in five years which is what we did,’ he declared.
