In his wonderful wrestling career, Kurt Angle has competed in various promotions. From WWE to NJPW, the Olympian has won titles (and a medal) for his incredible wrestling ability. However, does the Olympic Gold Medallist have a favourite WWE Championship design?
Does Kurt Angle have a favourite WWE Title design?
Debuting in 1999, Kurt Angle quickly rose to the top of WWE by becoming a Triple Crown Champion within his first year. He held the European and Intercontinental Championship, which he renamed the Eurocontinental Champion. Within his first year, he also held the WWE Championship.
Angle is now a five-time World Champion, including a reign with the World Heavyweight Championship. Also in his collection is the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and the plethora of medals he won during his amateur wrestling days.
But does Kurt Angle have a favourite championship belt in his collection? On the Kurt Angle Show, he revealed his favourite title design. “I actually liked the WWE Championship, probably because it was my first title. And I do like the look of it. The look, you know it’s a little different than the other titles, but I actually like that style.”
Angle won the WWE Championship for the first time at No Mercy 2000, beating one of the greatest WWE Champions of all time, The Rock. He defended it well into 2001, but dropped it to the People’s Champion at No Way Out 2001.

Every world title Angle captured
Now that we’ve touched upon Angle’s first WWE title win in WWE, let’s take a walk down memory lane and visit his subsequent accomplishments in WWE, along with the legendary rivalries he created along the way. What many fans often forget is that Angle also had a run with the WCW World Title.
Angle’s second reign with the WWE Title came at Unforgiven after he beat Stone Cold Steve Austin. Giving him the title was a patriotic decision, especially since the PPV took place in the aftermath of 9/11. His third reign with the title began at Armageddon 2002, when he beat the Big Show with the help of Brock Lesnar.
Speaking of Lesnar, he and Angle traded the WWE Title back and forth in 2003, giving Angle his fourth reign with the belt at Vengeance 2003. His last run as World Champion in WWE came on an episode of SmackDown in 2006, where he won a battle royal to become the World Heavyweight Champion.
In TNA, Angle held the promotion’s main title six times, defending it against the likes of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Sting, etc. His one and only title run in New Japan came after he beat Brock Lesnar in 2007 for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, a title he proudly defended along with the TNA World Championship.
