Did Conor McGregor Hurt Himself During Practice- New Image Shows Swollen Eye

Conor McGregor is only a few weeks away from his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. Although McGregor has been a part of many big fights in his career, this fight against Poirier might just be the most important one.

McGregor was knocked out the last time he faced ‘The Diamond’ earlier this year. Being the competitor that he is, McGregor immediately wanted the rematch to get one back over Poirier. It appears as though ‘The Notorious’, sparing no expense in training camp, has been taking training to another level as his recent Instagram post suggests.

Conor McGregor posted a picture on Instagram, wishing all the fathers a happy father’s day. In the post, however, McGregor appeared to have a black eye which might have been a cause of hard sparring sessions. ‘The Notorious’ spent most of his previous camp in Portugal along with his longtime coaches and trainers from SBG Ireland. For this fight, it appears as though McGregor has chosen Los Angeles as his home base.

What version of Conor McGregor can we expect on July 10th?

Conor McGregor is without a doubt the wealthiest UFC fighter by a mile. Forbes recently named ‘The Notorious’ the highest-paid athlete of 2021. Multiple business interests outside the octagon, and a mega payday every time he steps into the octagon, propelled him to the top spot.

However, many fans and pundits believe that this is more of a disadvantage for Conor McGregor as he might not be as motivated as his opponents, given that he is financially secure for life. Conor McGregor, though, did not show up to his last fight, looking like he had not trained at all. On the contrary, McGregor looked good for someone who had been out of action for over a year.

Poirier’s ability to absorb shots and his devastating calf kicks were two things that changed the course of the fight. These are also things that can be easily rectified. Especially by the likes of John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy, two of the best tacticians in the game.

It will be interesting to see what changes Conor McGregor makes to his game and how he approaches the fight against Dustin Poirier in two weeks’ time.
