“Even If Dad Pays the Biggest Bill”: Schumacher Asks Steiner to Intervene in Mazepin F1 Saga

Former F1 driver and Mick’s uncle, Ralf Schumacher, claim that both the Haas drivers ‘won’t go on vacation’ after the French GP incident. It seems like Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin don’t have a cordial relationship as the Haas duo were involved in yet another near-miss incident.

First at Azerbaijan GP, where the Russian leading his teammate during the final lap of the race. But as Mick Schumacher went to overtake, Nikita Mazepin maneuvered his car over to the right to prevent the German. Luckily, Mick avoided any contact with his teammate.

Second at French GP, where only in the fifth lap of the race, Nikita Mazepin went for an aggressive move on Mick Schumacher. The Russian got a run up the inside of his teammate into Turn 3, which ran Mick out of a room. As a result, the German compelled to take to the run-off area to avoid any damage or a collision with his teammate.

What did Ralf Schumacher say?

The two Haas drivers are deteriorating their relationship with each passing race weekend, a point noticed by Mick Schumacher’s uncle, Ralf Schumacher. The former Formula 1 driver also believes that the Russian came inside too fast, which was apparently dangerous.

“The two of them won’t go on vacation together. I have to say the only excuse I have is that Nikita is absolutely overwhelmed,” said the former Williams, Jordan, and Toyota driver, Ralf Schumacher.

“He drives in too fast and doesn’t leave any space. Thank goodness nothing happened because Mick looked in the mirror, otherwise both would have been out. At some point the team boss has to say something, even if Dad [Dmitry Mazepin] pays the biggest bill.”

“We do our thing, he does his”: Mick Schumacher unhappy with Nikita Mazepin

After the post-race driver’s conference, it is understandable that the German driver is not happy with his teammate’s lack of professionalism. Despite Schumacher’s warning, Nikita Mazepin continued his on-track antics.

“It doesn’t have to be [like that]. I think I have to talk to the team about it again. If that’s how it’s going to be in the end, then it’s like that,” said Mick Schumacher who reached Q2 for the first time in his career at French GP.

“We do our thing, he does his. Most people can explain to themselves that it doesn’t have to be like that. At this level, I can’t quite understand it.”

Schumacher finished the race at P19 just ahead of his teammate Nikita Mazepin as all 20 drivers ran until the end.
