UFC Vegas 29 was a stacked card with some incredible fights and performances. The card featured not one but six stoppages wins and was action-packed from the get-go. Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown was one such fighter. The 40-year-old turned back the clock and produced a highlight-reel knockout win over fellow veteran Dhiego Lima. 

Joe Rogan took to Instagram to congratulate ‘The Immortal’ for his stunning knockout win. He said, “A massive congratulations to the OG @iamtheimmortal for a huge KO victory tonight! One of my favorite fighters ever, and one of the most ferocious motherf***ers to ever do it!”.

Matt Brown proves that he has not lost a step at 40-years old!

Going into the fight against Lima, Brown was on a two-fight skid with losses against the likes of Carlos Condit and Miguel Baeza. There was a growing concern that if Brown failed to win his fight against Lima, his future in the UFC might be uncertain. 

However, Brown secured perhaps one of his most exciting knockout win over Lima at UFC Vegas 29. The fight started well with both men feeling each other out initially. As the fight went on, Brown began to connect with more of his shots. ‘The Immortal’ is known for his devastating punches and elbows. In the second round of the fight, ‘The Immortal’ landed an inch-perfect right hand that shut the lights out on Lima immediately. Brown walked off in style as soon as the punch landed.

‘The Immortal’ smashed a few records with his win over Lima. He now holds the record for the most fights at welterweight (28), most finishes at welterweight (14), and is tied for the most finishes in the UFC (12). He is also in the top three for many other categories at welterweight. Showing exactly why he is one of the most dangerous men in the division. 

With the performance, Brown proved a lot of doubters wrong and showed that even at 40-years old he has the power to knock out another man in a violent fashion.
