‘This Dude’s a Bad Mf-ER’ – Sean McVay Continues To Be in Awe of New Rams QB Matthew Stafford

The LA Rams went all out in their pursuit of quarterback Matthew Stafford this offseason. Trading a bunch of future first-round picks and former starter Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions, the Rams snapped up Stafford to be their QB1 for 2021 and beyond.

The expectations are high from Stafford. Being in a franchise that is notoriously known for its history of being underachievers, a trade to the Rams comes as a breath of fresh air for Stafford’s career as well.

The Rams too believe that Stafford is the final piece in the puzzle in their pursuit of a Super Bowl. And it seems no one is more excited about their new acquisition than Rams Head Coach Sean McVay himself.

McVay holds Matthew Stafford in high regard

Speaking to SI.com, McVay talked about Stafford and how he continues to impress him through the course of the offseason.

“Bro, this dude’s a bad MF-er,” McVay said when talking about Stafford. “Whatever people say about him, as good as it can be, he’s even better than advertised.”

Stafford is known to be a big arm QB. Stafford has bailed out the Lions franchise multiple times in the past. But without a proper supporting cast, he has faltered to reach the levels he could achieve. A veteran who knows the league inside out, his presence alone is something that McVay believes is of invaluable worth to the Rams side.

“It makes sense to him. The guy’s ability to see the game, his ability to draw on his experiences, the feel that he has, it’s pretty special and unique. And man, his feel for people, his authentic way of connecting with his teammates, his coaches, this guy, it’s great being around him.”

At LA, Stafford will get all the help he needs to reach his true potential. With Cam Akers to lead the running game and a stellar wide receiver in Cooper Kupp, Stafford enters an LA offense that is already loaded.
