Toto Wolff Accuses Nico Rosberg of ‘Stitching Up’ Mercedes F1- “We Paid You Well”

Former F1 world champion Nico Rosberg called out his former team for using too much front wing. After the French Grand Prix, Toto Wolff and Christian Horner got interviewed together.

Wolff accused Rosberg of ‘stitching us up’ to the FIA. Interestingly, Rosberg raced for Mercedes from 2010 to 2016. He won the world championship with the Silver Arrows in his final year in F1.

Rosberg, while doing punditry for Sky, asked Horner about his reaction to the ‘Flexi wing’ drama. Wolff funnily interrupted Horner’s response to call out his former driver.

As mentioned by Planetf1, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff immediately interrupted Rosberg, when the former world champion wanted to get the reaction from the Red Bull boss about Mercedes’s Flexi front wing.

This came after FIA had conducted tests on the rear wings of several teams including the Red Bull.

“So Christian…Toto and other teams got you on the rear wings and you had to change that. Mercedes are still flexing more than average on the front wing, what are you going to do about that?” asked Rosberg to Horner.

“Yeah, it’s payback, basically. Today was payback for Barcelona and he [Toto] gets the front wing in a couple of weeks as well,” said Christian Horner.

Wolff replied by poking fun at Rosberg, “Are you stitching us up?! We have paid you well for many years!” said Wolff.

Nico hilariously replied, “Let me stand in the middle of you two.” Horner recognized the irony and cheekily asked Toto, “Is Nico not still on the books?”

Toto Wolff is expecting FIA to test Mercedes’ front wing soon

The ‘Flexi wing drama’ between Mercedes and Red Bull looks like ending soon. As FIA is conducting teats to check the flexibility of both front and rear wings on the cars. Red Bull got their rear wings checked and Wolff expects Mercedes would get their front wings checked soon.

He is simply waiting for the new front wings rules to be introduced soon by FIA. He just expects the teats by FIA would be stricter than before.
