Organisers behind a petition calling to end the The Late Late Show segment Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts for ‘encouraging anti-Asian’ hate are staging an event to grab James Corden’s attention this week.

The game sees celebrities play a game of roulette with Corden, with delicacies ranging from chicken feet to fish eyeballs, and the stars must either answer a personal question or eat the dish in front of them.

Kim Saira set up the Change.org page asking producers of Corden’s US chat show to re-think the game, which has been played by the likes of Harry Styles, Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian, as many of the food items originate from different Asian cultures and are often described on the show as ‘disgusting’ or ‘gross’.

The petition reads: ‘In the wake of the constant Asian hate crimes that have continuously been occurring, not only is this segment incredibly culturally offensive and insensitive, but it also encourages anti-Asian racism.

‘So many Asian Americans are consistently bullied and mocked for their native foods, and this segment amplifies and encourages it.’

It continued: ‘We are holding James Corden and The Late Late Show accountable for their actions, and perpetual harm this segment causes to Asian American communities.

‘At the very least, Asian American communities deserve an apology and this segment to be taken off the air.’

The petition asks both The Late Late Show and Corden to apologise, change the segment or drop it entirely.

More than 39,000 people have signed the petition and now an event will be taking place in Lose Angeles on Thursday June 24.

An updated post on the Change.org page reads: ‘Attend our #CancelSpillYourGuts event this coming Thursday in LA from 4-8 PM! Come by and stand against anti-Asian hate & the Spill Your Guts segment on the Late Late Show, as the show films a few feet away!’

Corden and The late Late Show are yet to address the backlash, even two weeks after the petition was launched.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to a spokesperson for Corden and The Late Late Show for comment.

The Late Late Show airs on CBS in the US.
