“Such a Show Off”: Serena Williams Trolls Grigor Dimitrov

23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams and Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov hit it off well together. But usually, it is the American who is pulling the leg of the 2017 ATP Finals champion. Again, she has found a way to ridicule Dimitrov.

Previously, the 39-year-old cheered for the Bulgarian while commentating at her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou’s Ultimate Tennis Showdown. Before that, they were hitting partners for a day after the Australian Open earlier this year.

Serena Williams shares video of skilful Grigor Dimitrov running on a treadmill

For quite some time, Serena Williams has been preparing for the Championships at Mouratoglou Academy. And only a few days back, she shared videos of her training with her daughter, Olympia, on Instagram.

Now, the current World No.20 has appeared on Serena’s Instagram story. In that, Dimitrov exhibits an unusually way of running on a treadmill.

Fascinatingly, the 30-year-old starts with running backwards, then he swiftly turns sideways to then, straight on the treadmill. Watching this, Serena responded, “Such a show off.”

Concerningly, the Bulgarian hasn’t had a good 2021 season so far, health-wise. But given he has started his training, there would be high hopes of him at the Championships.

On the other side, Serena too is looking forward to playing at her most successful tournament. Also, the 8-time Wimbledon champion will enter the event as the two-time defending finalist, hoping to become third time lucky.

However, the two are not playing any tune-up tournaments for the Championships. It could be a costly decision, given how match reps help players find rhythm and confidence.

Since her betterer at the Australian Open, Naomi Osaka, has withdrawn, and 2019’s champion Simona Halep has raised injury doubts, Serena has a significant opportunity to go deep in Wimbledon. But it all would depend on how the main draw comes out.

Moreover, the women’s seedings could also play a role in making the path to the finale easier for the tennis queen. Even if not, Serena is confident and passionate to go all-in for her 24th Grand Slam and ninth Wimbledon title.

The tournament starts on June 28, 2021. Hopefully, this is the one where her long-running chase ends.
