WWE’s Kevin Owens promises he’ll be ‘back soon’ as he announces break from wrestling
WWE superstar Kevin Owens has announced he’s taking a ‘little break’ after Hell In A Cell.
The former world champion battled Sami Zayn in arguably the match of the night on Sunday as the long time rivals and real life best friends added another stunning chapter to their storied in-ring history.
Following the bout, he tweeted: ‘I fought like hell. Now, I need a little break. I’ll be back soon. Thank you, guys.’
KO didn’t offer any further explanation for his apparent hiatus, but fans flooded his post with messages of support as everyone is already looking forward to the moment he returns.
One fan wrote: ‘Rest up Kevin Owens! Spend time with your family and we will be waiting for your return to action!’
Another follower added: ‘Thank you for everything you do sir. Hope you heal up, both physically and mentally.’
And a different admirer said: ‘Enjoy your break, my guy. Your performances are always appreciated.’
On Sunday night, Owens faced Zayn a couple of days after suffering an attack at the hands of Commander Azeez following a tag team match pitting Azeez and IC Champion Apollo Crews against KO and Big E.
He was laid out with the Nigerian Nail after the bell, and his throat was the story of the bout over the weekend.
In the end, Sami picked up a huge win, and fans will also be interested to see where he goes from here.
As for Owens, the SmackDown superstar previously revealed last year he almost ended up in NXT UK in 2019 before plans changed.
He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘They’re all extremely talented guys, and I would love to compete with any of those guys. I kinda got to do a bit with Imperium last year, so that was cool.
‘At one point there was a plan for me to go back to NXT at some point last year, which didn’t happen, obviously.
‘But we had even discussed, maybe if that happens, then maybe I could show up on NXT UK and work with all these different people. I’d love to get to do that!’
*WWE SmackDown airs Fridays at 1am on BT Sport.
