Josh Taylor Says Terence Crawford Is “A Winnable Fight” for Him, but Is It?

Josh Taylor needs no introduction in today’s stacked boxing universe. In just a brief span of time, the undefeated boxer has reached the summit of the super-lightweight roster, and today he’s the undisputed champ at his weight class. But, as Taylor is hungry to add more accolades to his name, he wants to test himself against the best.

Talking about the best, the one opponent that comes into Taylor’s mind is the welterweight sensation, Terence Crawford. In a recent press conference with Everlast, Taylor said, “There are some big fights out there for me now. I would love the Terence Crawford fight, and I do think that is a winnable fight for me.” (h/t ESPN Ringside)

‘The Tartan Tornado’ in his last fight, battled Jose Ramirez for all the super-lightweight titles on the line. Prior to this bout taking place, a huge chunk of the fans believed that Ramirez would hammer the Scottish boxer. And in fact, the first few rounds of the fight went in Ramirez’s favor.

But before the fight even reached halfway, Taylor turned the tide in his favor by going toe-to-toe against his adversary. ‘The Tartan Tornado’ even dropped Ramirez twice in the fight.

As a result, Taylor was the clear winner, and he claimed all the titles with his power-packed performance. With that, the 30-year-old is now looking to expand his horizon and eventually beat the likes of Terence Crawford and more.

Can Josh Taylor beat Terence Crawford now?

Taylor is in his sheer prime, and he’s at the ideal stage of his career. On the other hand, as ‘Bud’ has already cemented himself as a welterweight legend, he’s only looking to solidify his resume by adding constant wins.

Crawford is way ahead of Taylor in terms of experience and overall boxing prowess. That said, at this stage of his career, Taylor would encounter enormous problems in beating ‘Bud’.

However, if he invests time in himself and takes up more challenging fights, then in a year or two, he’ll be ready to go all guns blazing against Crawford.
