In sad news for telly fans, it’s been confirmed that The Undateables stars Daniel Wakeford and Lily Taylor have split up and called off their wedding

Daniel has announced that the pair, who got engaged on the Channel 4 dating show back in 2018, will no longer be getting hitched.

Fans of the show will remember that the pair hit it off after being set up on the programme. They then returned for a Christmas special, which saw Daniel get down on one knee and propose with a musical number in heartwarming scenes

Sadly, Daniel has now posted a video on TikTok informing his 367,000 followers that the pair are no longer together.

‘It’s Daniel Wakeford here,’ he says in the clip. ‘Listen, I just want to let you all know, because me and Lily are always being romantic for the last three years, but we decided to end our relationship together.’

He added: ‘So me and Lily, we’re friends, but I’m very good to be alone.’

Daniel, who has autism, met Lily, who has learning difficulties, agreed to marry at Brighton Bandstand, after Daniel sang Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You.

The news of the breakup has left fans of the show reeling, with one viewer writing: ‘Aw that’s sad hope you’re both ok.’

‘Sorry to hear this Daniel. I hope you both find love again soon. You both have such love to give,’ a fan said.

‘This breaks my heart, hope you’re ok,’ another added.

Daniel seemed to have a more positive outlook though, adding: ‘But this summer, I might flirt with you, so watch out girls! And so this is Daniel Wakeford. Until then, bye bye for now.’

Channel 4 dating show The Undateables explores dating with disabilities, and first aired back in 2012.

The Undateables is available to watch on All4.
