*WARNING: Spoilers for Fast and Furious 9 below*

Fast and Furious 9 has finally been released in UK cinemas, after what felt like a lifetime of waiting, with fans and critics alike raving about the ninth instalment.

Vin Diesel reprised his role as Dominic Toretto in the star-studded cast, joined for the action in F9 by John Cena, who starred as his brother, Jakob, as well as franchise regulars Mia (Jordana Brewster), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Tej (Ludacris), Roman (Tyrese) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel).

Han (Sung Kang) also makes a surprise return to the fold, and there is an iconic cameo from Queen Cardi B as Leysa.

With so many stunts, explosions and car chases to wrap your mind around, it’s understandable if you happened to miss that already-iconic end credits scene between Han and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).

After we were thrown into an emotional rollercoaster with the very brief return of Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, driving to meet his pals in his blue Skyline, director Justin Lin didn’t even give us a second to rest.

We were greeted to the sight of Shaw grunting away as he trained on a punchbag, in the middle of a warehouse in a surprise addition to the blockbuster.

However, that’s not just your average punchbag as it turns out there’s a random, bloodied and battered man inside it, begging to be let go.

He offers up some plans on a drive in exchange for his freedom, but it turns out that’s a useless trade as Shaw already has the drive in his possession, zipping the man back in the bag and continuing his punching session.

The workout is interrupted by a mysterious knock at the door, with Shaw coming face-to-face with Han – who he thought he killed years ago in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.

He’s understandably a little shaken by this but the credits begin rolling again just before we get any inkling of what else is to come.

Is Jason Statham returning to the Fast and Furious franchise?

Jason made his Fast and Furious debut at the very end of Fast and Furious 6, where he appears to kill Han, before returning for the next two films, and 2019 spin-off Hobbs and Shaw.

The Transporter star previously opened up about his desire to return to the franchise in a candid chat with Entertainment Weekly – but managed to give nothing away on his shock return.

‘They better bring me back, because I need to put out that fire. If [Han’s] got any score to settle, it’s with me,’ he told the publication in April.

‘I love Justin Lin, he’s a great director. It’s a shame because when I joined the franchise all those years back, he went on to do something else and all I did with Justin was a little tag at the end.

‘I need to do a movie with him. And I’d love to see all the Fast crew, Vin [Diesel] and everybody, they’re all great people. I have a lot of affection for them.’

Well, his wish is Justin’s command…

Fast and Furious is released in UK cinemas now.
