Is Sir Elton John headlining Glastonbury 2022? Fans notice intriguing clues
Eagle-eyed Sir Elton John fans have got a theory that the music legend is set to headline Glastonbury 2022.
We’re so ready.
The festival may be a whole year away, but the speculation about the big names set to be involved has already begun, with dedicated fans even analysing Sir Elton’s tour dates.
As it turns out, there’s a very curious gap in his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which some have described as a ‘Glasto sized gap’.
Sir Elton will perform in Bristol on June 22, before heading to Swansea on June 29.
Glastonbury is set to take place between June 22 and June 26 – so is it purely coincidence or has he got something planned?
Some fans are completely convinced, with one writing on Twitter: ‘Elton John’s gonna be at glasto ain’t he,’ while another added: ‘Glasto sized hole for Elton John next year.’
‘Elton in Bristol on 22 June 2022, surely got to be stopping at Glastonbury two days later,’ one more said.
Of course, nothing has been confirmed, but it would fit perfectly with Sir Elton’s desire to ‘go out in the biggest possible way’.
The Tiny Dancer hitmaker recently announced he’s bringing his 2022 tour to the UK with his final shows.
‘The shows that I announce today will be my final tour dates ever in North America and Europe,’ the 74-year-old said.
‘I’m going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career.
‘Whether it’s next summer in Frankfurt or at the legendary Dodger Stadium for the grand finale in the United States, I can’t wait to see you all on the road one last time.
‘This has been an incredible tour so far, full of the most amazing highs, and I look forward to making more wonderful memories with you at these final shows. To all my friends down under, we’ll be seeing you too. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you in your town.’
Meanwhile, after Glastonbury was cancelled last year and this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, organiser Emily Eavis is determined to make 2022 one to remember.
Speaking on Shaun Keaveny’s BBC Radio 6 Music show, she said: ‘We are gonna throw everything at 2022.
‘I feel now different place to where we were a year ago the light is coming in we’re able to move out of this awkward time.’
