The wait for Sex Education season 3 is nearly over as Netflix has finally confirmed when the new chapter will arrive and treated fans to some first-look pictures.

After reports that the upcoming scenes will feature a ‘massive ending’ the streaming giant announced that the episodes will drop onto the platform on Friday 17 September, so set those calendar alerts.

‘It’s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way,’ the official synopsis teases.

‘Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope (played by Jemima Kirke) tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms.

‘Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff.’

Official season three pictures revealed a first glimpse at newcomer Jemima Kirke in action as new headteacher Hope, and it looks like she won’t be shying away from pulling students aside in the corridors.

While further details of the storyline remain under wraps, Ncuti has teased ‘really powerful’ and ‘profound’ Eric scenes are on the way.

‘Eric returns back to his culture a lot more,’ he said.

‘I think those scenes were very special. Just kind of having a set where the majority of people were Black was really great and really powerful and represented Eric’s culture and his family. Those are always very quite profound moments.’

Hannah Waddingham, who plays Sophia, one of Jackson’s mums, added that she hardly features in the new series.

Speaking to Collider, she said: ‘We [Jackson’s mothers] are barely in season three because I was busy doing Ted Lasso. I mean, barely.

‘But I will tell you that season three and my boy Jackson, Kedar, his contribution becomes increasingly beautiful.’

Sex Education season 3 arrives Friday 17 September on Netflix.
