WATCH: Eugenie Bouchard Begins Her Recovery Sessions After Hand Injury
Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard has not played any tournament after her first-round exit at the WTA Monterrey Open in March. As per the latest update, she will also miss the upcoming Wimbledon Championships 2021 because of a hand injury.
Notably, the former World No.5 posted her injury pictures on her social media handles. However, the nature of the injury and the extent of the damage is still unknown.
On the brighter side, Bouchard has initiated the recovery process.

After her breakthrough 2014 season, the 27-year-old has been marred with inconsistency. Consequently, Bouchard even lost her place in the Top 100 women tennis players.
But for now, it is time for her to get her recovery right. Legitimate rehabilitation would mean an early comeback and a chance for her to get back on track.
The Canadian recently provided a sneak-peak into her recovery. While she did hand lifting alone, the trainer provided her support in other hand motion exercises. Her face clearly indicated that there is still discomfort, and the road to recovery is long.
But she is optimistic and ready to take down this path. Bouchard captioned the video, “Let’s go.”
Moreover, the video also confirmed that the Canadian would miss the Championships next week. Chiefly, it is the tournament where Bouchard produced her best Grand Slam result, finishing runner-up at the 2014 edition.
Also, it would mean that the 27-year-old will not play the third consecutive major tournament of 2021. Therefore, Genie’s hopes would now be with the US Open commencing in August.

Bouchard’s 2021 season so far
After failing to qualify for the Australian Open, Bouchard also suffered a first-round defeat in Lyon. However, in the same tournament, she reached the final with Serbian Olga Danilovic but lost in the deciding tie-breaker.
Following that, Genie reached her second WTA singles final in six months in Abierto de Guadalajara. Owing to her inconsistency, she saw an opening-round exit in the subsequent tournament in Monterrey.
Hopefully, this time off would push her to find her long-lost rhythm back on the women’s tours. Even today, fans await the Canadian’s infamous mean streak that made her a force to reckon with.
